Library & Archive

The Évora Museum Library, which has around 4,000 volumes, was originally created essentially to support the services inventorying and studying the institution’s collections, its acquisitions being directed to the areas of Art History, Archaeology and Museology. With the aim of enabling us to allow more widespread use of our library resources, our files are currently undergoing reorganisation and digitalisation, with on-line search facilities being available from January 2007.

The Documentation Centre has organised documentation relative to administrative management, installations, acquisition, conservation and loan of collections and the production of events and exhibitions by the institution since its foundation in 1915. The documentation can be consulted in conformity with Article 65 of the Codigo do Procedimento Administrativo and researchers can prepare their inquiries through the use of the Guia do Arquivo do Museu de Évora (the Évora Museum archive guide).
