" Mastery of Goldsmith " opens May 16 at the Museum of Évora
Within the exhibition Treasures from the Museum of Évora cycle , on the 16th of May, at 18 hours, and DRCAlentejo Evora Museum opens the exhibition " Mastery of Goldsmith " which presents a unique set of religious ornaments , utensils and jewelery profane .
Framed on the theme " Museums : Collections create connections " proposed by ICOM for International Museum Day , the exhibition features pieces belonging to the collections of Jewellers and Goldsmiths Museum of Évora , for the first time, will be exhibited together in most from the convents of the city of Évora , when the extinction of the religious orders , as well as the Chapel of Our Lady of Help and the Chapel of St. Blaise.
The use of silver and precious stones - symbols of luxury and economic power - some of the most iconic pieces in this exhibition demonstrates the importance of the city of Évora in the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries , the panorama of Portuguese decorative arts , notably Jewellers and Goldsmiths .
